I’m Tom Knolton, a lifelong Tennessean with a love for craftsmanship, classic cars, and anything with wheels. As the youngest of six kids—and a twin at that—I grew up learning how to make the most of what I had. Our parents were older when we came along, and money wasn’t always plentiful, so I got creative, building and tinkering from an early age.
My love for hot rods and old cars started young, but before that, it was BMX bikes. I spent years riding and racing, then shifted my focus to motorcycles, experimenting with building a few along the way. Eventually, I found my way back to where it all started—classic cars. One square-body pickup restoration later, I discovered a real passion for upholstery work.
What began as a hobby quickly turned into something more. To sharpen my skills, I teamed up with a buddy of mine, and we ended up teaching each other along the way. Now, after retiring from the sheriff’s office, I’ve turned that passion into a full-time business, dedicated to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Whether it’s a full custom interior or a restoration that honors a vehicle’s history, Lonestar Upholstery takes pride in bringing projects to life. After all, I’ve spent a lifetime building things—and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
